The Wyoming State Fair is thrilled to announce this year’s 2020 Grandstand Entertainment Lineup. On Thursday, August 13, the Wyoming State Fairgrounds will be filled with the distinct sounds of music headliner, Reckless Kelly, featuring Jeremy McComb.

Tickets go on sale July 3rd

For nearly 25 years, Reckless Kelly has graced the musical landscape with a high-powered form of Americana, equally rooted in raw passion, refined musicianship, and gritty authenticity. With the dual release of two new albums—American Jackpot and American Girls—the Idaho-bred band presents a beautifully detailed portrait of their beloved country, turning their nuanced songwriting to its many glories and tragedies. This Grammy-winning group soulfully combines deep roots of rock and country influences, entertaining crowds from coast-to-coast.

Jeremy McComb is a fiercely independent Nashville based recording artist, with a Grammy nominated movie soundtrack. He is a road-tested, relentless touring performer who has an incredible magic trick of audience connection. McComb is an entertainer and a storyteller, with a live show that allows no false notes and makes sure nothing goes without being tied together for the purpose of a set-up and a payoff. Blending his knack for stories that bring crowds from full laughs to pin drop silence, Jeremy’s audience connection, is un-matched. While still true, organic, real, and raw.

In addition to exceptional live music, the grandstand will be home to a variety of other family friendly events and fan favorites including the Ranch Rodeo with Mutton Bustin’ on August 8; Pig n’ Mud Wrestling on August 11; Octane Addictions Freestyle Motocross Show Featuring X-Games Legends on August 12; the PRCA Rodeo on August 14; and the Demolition Derby on August 15.

Today is an exciting day for the Wyoming State Fair as we announce that the 2020 State Fair will take place as planned, pending exception approval from health officials. The fair is scheduled to take place August 11-15 in Douglas with an extensive health and safety plan in place. We have long been a gathering point for generations of families, while providing a quality educational experience and entertainment for all who have attended. The Wyoming State Fair is a celebration of all things Wyoming and showcases our pride in our traditions, agriculture, innovation, industry, youth, entrepreneurs, artists, entertainment and so much more. This year will be no different. Although we have all faced unprecedented challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic, we are excited to move forward with this year’s Wyoming State Fair, celebrating our 108th year!

We are also excited to reveal all-new branding of the Wyoming State Fair! As Wyoming’s Premier Summer Event, we want to ensure our brand reflects such. Thus, earlier this year the Wyoming State Fair board initiated a process to refine and refresh our brand. Today we are excited to reveal our new brand initiative which was unanimously approved by the Board at their June meeting this past Tuesday. The brand refresh includes a new logo and color palette, new website, and updated marketing materials. Phase one of the website has been completed, with new information and updates being added as they become available. All phases of the new website will be finalized by this fall.

We worked closely with our marketing agency in creating a new look that represents what makes Wyoming State Fair special. The fair has always been an event that has showcased the culture and heritage of Wyoming and has been a constant thread weaving through the fabric of Wyoming’s history. It is not just about the entertainment value, it’s about celebrating Wyoming, honoring our agriculture roots and supporting innovation and youth development.

Playing off the former logo and Wyoming tradition, the new logo features the famous steamboat at the center and a sunburst backdrop. It was important that our new brand reflects the nostalgia and excitement of what a fair means to so many and connects with the generations of fair-goers and participants.

In the coming months, we encourage the public to stay connected with us and look for regular Fair updates on our website and social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We have some exciting news that we will be sharing soon including an announcement later today revealing our live grandstand entertainment lineup!

We’re very much looking forward to a successful and safe 2020 Wyoming State Fair! For questions or to request an interview, please reach out to courtny.conkle@wyo.gov or 307-358-2398. Thank you for your ongoing support of our mission and entrepreneurialism in Wyoming!

The Wyoming State Fair Board is pleased to announce that Courtny Conkle has been named Manager of the Wyoming State Fair.

With deep roots in the fair community, Conkle brings a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective to the Wyoming State Fair. As someone who grew up in a fair family who runs concession businesses, she received an extensive and hands-on education by attending more than 300 fairs across 20 states with her parents before she was 16 years old. In her professional career, she has managed a 64-acre facility, as well as livestock and exhibits for the Sonoma-Marin Fair, in Petaluma California where she went on to be named Interim Chief Executive Officer and Fair Manager. Most recently, she served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Lake County Fair where she supervised 250 employees and 400 volunteers and oversaw the grounds and events year-round.

“Courtny’s background in the fair industry and her professional accomplishments will be an amazing asset to the Wyoming State Fair as we move forward in the coming years,” said Joe Rankin, Wyoming State Fair Board Chairman. “Her love of fairs, drive, and varied experience in this industry will be a guiding force as we continue to improve the State Fair in both fair and non-fair times of the year.”

Conkle has been a member of the Western Fairs Association (WFA) Board of Directors, International Association of Fairs and Exhibitions (IAFE) Young Professionals Initiative Chairwoman, WFA Blue Ribbon Foundation Board Liaison, and is currently a student in the IAFE Institute of Fair Management, which she will graduate from at the annual IAFE Convention in December.

“As someone who grew up in and around fairs, I’m excited to bring my skill set, passion for the fair industry, and deep love for agriculture to Wyoming,” said Conkle. “It has always been a goal of mine to manage a State Fair and stepping in as Manager of the Wyoming State Fair Manager is a dream come true.”
